Hand-Building in Clay: Specimen Boxes:
Join Margaret's extra-ordinary joy and enthusiasm for culture, hiking, and of course clay. In this 8 night exploration of Asturias, Spain, you will visit prehistoric art, pre-Roman and medieval sites, in the city of Oviedo and the mountains of Teverga. The inspiration you gleen from these adventures will guide your work in the studio.
In clay, Margaret will guide you through hand building techniques, various texture explorations including, mono print, sgaffitto, mishima and wax resist glaze. The possibilities are sublime. In your created box, you will add collected and made objects.
One night in Oviedo included in this glorious adventure along with hikes and other excursions.

Price includes, night in Oviedo, bus to San Martin de Teverga, stay at Senda d'Arte, breakfasts, catered dinners, light lunches, wine, entry fees to museums, local group transportation, and materials Included. Plan to go out to 2-3 meals on your own.
DOES NOT INCLUDE travel to San Martin de Teverga.

Margaret Josey Parker
Art is a visual language of personal symbols – and my work is a rough sketch of my life. I create sculptural objects that comfort me, but also challenge my notions of reality, beauty and spirituality.
My work has a modern cowboy aesthetic and is inspired by western life and landscape. All the places I have lived have possessed an abundance of gorgeous visual stimuli. From the canyons of Utah and Arizona to the lush environs of the Pacific Northwest, the rich culture of New Mexico and now the open plains and mountains of Colorado, my sculptural work reflects my love for the landscape and history of the American West.
I work in series, and often integrate steel and wood elements into my volumetric ceramic forms in hopes of attaining a poetic composite of materials. My collection utilizes a variety of clay, glaze and firing techniques, and features carving of intricate patterns and symbolic objects on the surface of the clay forms.
This collection represents individual events and the emotional ebb and flow of everyday life.

See the stunning city of Oviedo, the capital of Asturias. Roman, pre-romanesque, medieval architecture, a fantastic central market, and a traditional meal.
Travel by bus to San Martin de Teverga, Senda d'Arte for a welcome meal of Galette's by Zoé.
